Sony introduced the MicroMV or Micro MV format in 2001. Its main selling point was its size as it is the smallest format to date being 70% smaller than MiniDv. Being purely digital the quality is far superior to the previous analogue formats like Hi8 & VHS-C. However MicroMv is notoriously difficult to transfer & edit and Sony stopped offering new camcorder models in 2006 making this format sadly obsolete.
